Doctor Who is among the sci-fi and fantasy shows to have been nominated for a Hugo Award, which recognises excellence in the genre.
The beloved series has been nominated in the best dramatic presentation, short-form category.
“The Story and the Engine”, which saw Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor arrive in Lagos, Nigeria to face an enigmatic figure known as the Barber, is nominated.
The Hugo Award is an honour recognising the best science fiction or fantasy works and achievements. The 2026 winners will be announced at a ceremony in LA on 30 August, with the winners being decided by votes from the World Science Fiction Convention voting.
“The 2026 Hugo Award ballot reflects the wide spectrum of contemporary science fiction and fantasy,” said convention chair Joyce Lloyd.
